On the last day of Durga Puja, Bengalis bid goodbye for the year to the goddess with teary eyes on Monday. The pandals which were a place of positivity and delight turned gloomy without the idol of the goddess.
Due to Corona, the usual grandeur of the ceremony was missed. ‘Sindoor’ was offered to the goddess as Bengalis prayed for wellness, health and happiness.
In some pandals Dhunchi dance and ‘Sindoor Khela’ was seen on a much smaller scale as compared to last year. Sindur Khela, literally meaning 'vermillion game', is a Bengali Hindu tradition where women smear each other with sindur on Vijayadashami, the last day of the Durga Puja.
Navlakha-based Bengali club president Ashok Mukherjee and cultural secretary Ambuja Dutta, shared that the day began with morning rituals and Dashami worship.
Goddess Durga, goddess Lakshmi, goddess Saraswati, lord Ganesh, lord Karthikeya, Navpatrika and Jaya-Vijaya were worshiped.
After this, the goddess was offered yogurt, banana, water soaked poha and sweets.
