Sanjay Kumar Jain & Mohd Shahid Ansari selected from Madhya Pradesh for National Awards to Teachers 2020
Two teachers from Madhya Pradesh have been shortlisted for National Awards to Teachers (NAT) 2020. The award is given to celebrate the unique contribution of some of the finest teachers in the country every year on Teacher’s Day, i.e. September 5.
The National Level Jury constituted by the Department of School Education and Literacy by the Ministry of Education reviewed 153 teachers from the selection committees of 36 state and union territories, out of which 47 teachers from all over India, including 2 from MP have been selected.
Further, the award honours those teachers who through their commitment and industry have not only improved the quality of school education but also enriched the lives of their students.
Last year, Lalit Mehta from Government Higher Secondary School of Excellence, Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, was the only teacher from the state who received this award.
This year, the two teachers selected for the honour are:
Sanjay Kumar Jain from GGPS Dunda, Dunda, Tikamgarh; and Mohammad Shahid Ansari from Govt. Higher Secondary School Khirsadoh, Khirsadoh, Parasiya, Chhindwara.
NAT selection this year
The Ministry of Education, Department of School Education & Literacy, constituted an Independent Jury at National Level to select the award recipients for the year 2020.
The Independent Jury at National Level reviewed the list of 153 teachers as shortlisted by all the 36 State & UT Selection Committees and 7 Organisation Selection Committees through Video Conferencing.
The Jury considered the applications and presentations made by all shortlisted teachers and after detailed deliberations recommended the names of the following candidates for the National Awards to Teachers, 2020. Education Minister approved the same.
Sanjay Kumar Jain
Primary school teacher in Tikamgarh was among the top 6 selected in state level evaluation for NAT. Jain was further shortlisted for the award due to his numerous contributions for students in Tikamgarh. Some highlights of his contributions include 80 innovations like building a board to teach place value and face value concepts.
It is after 19 years that a teacher from Chhindwara has been selected for NAT. In 2001, Dr Rajendra Mishra had received the award from Tikamgarh.
Among other achievements, Jain’s efforts pumped up school attendance to 95 percent, which is an all-time highest. He has also led and coordinated various constructions projects in the school as free service.
Mohammad Shahid Ansari
Teacher at Govt. Higher Secondary School Khirsadoh, Chhindwara district, Ansari has been shortlisted for the award.
Ansari developed several models in the field of Information Communication Technology (ICT) and made efforts to keep children connected to education at all times.
Presently, he had already envisaged the work being done to impart education, either online or through social media groups. Not only this, under the ‘Three in One’ planning, a mobile projector was prepared, with the help of which students of rural areas were also taught with modern technology.
