First appeal for rejected school affiliation via video conferencing due to covid-19

First appeal hearing for private school’s whose affiliation applications were rejected today i.e. Friday July 24, as informed by Joint Director of School Education Department (Indore) Manish Verma. The hearing will be heard via video conferencing to avoid social gathering and keep safe distance to control the spread of coronavirus.
This is perhaps for the first time that the appeal for school affiliation will be heard via video conferencing. The first appeal hearing is for schools which had applied for fresh affiliations for academic year 2020-21.
This year, 49 out of 50 schools that had applied for affiliation for academic year 2020-21 have been rejected under the first inspection by school education department. The affiliation applications were rejected citing non-compliance with Madhya Pradesh Recognition of Secondary and Higher Secondary School Rules, 2017.
Verma said, “We had overall received 50 requests from Indore division that includes Indore, Alirajpur, Barwani, Burhanpur, Khargone, Dhar, Jhabua and Khandwa.”
As shared, 12 schools had applied for affiliation from Indore and all of them were rejected. Only one school from Khandwa passed the inspection test of school education department and is being considered further for affiliation.
CBSE has given the Joint Director the responsibility of accrediting (inspection-testing) the schools for new accreditation and renewal since last year.
“There were a few application for starting a new school, but they were rejected on other grounds like height of boundary wall, lease expiry or insufficiency,” Verma said.
As per the process of affiliations, those schools who sent an appeal to Bhopal by July 10, will be reconsidered by school education department. The appeal received from 48 schools will be heard by Verma on Thursday.
As per the notice issued, school heads must be present on the time slot allotted to the school for the appeal.  Requirements including laptop/desktop with proper connectivity for video conferencing must be arranged beforehand.
