No late fee till April 30, MPBSE board orders schools citing lockdown due to coronavirus

Instructing schools not to pressurize parents with the burden of paying school fee, school education department issued a notice for all the school affiliated to Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE), Central Board Secondary Education (CBSE) or Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CICSE).
“For all the public and private schools affiliated to MPBSE, CBSE or CISCE, parents can pay fee for the academic session 2019-20 till April 30, 2020. No school can charge late fee on submission of the fee till April 30, 2020 for the session,” the notice said.
 This notice was sent to all the schools citing the lockdown in the country.
The country has gone into a 21-day lockdown to battle the spread of coronavirus. Citizens have been strictly instructed to stay indoors or face legal action.
Yet, school education department had received complaints from parents quoting the pressure from schools to pay fee. “The insensitivity shown by schools had left parents worried about how to pay the fees without risking their lives, hence, it was essential for the department to send the notice,” Manish Verma, Joint Director, school education department (Indore), said.
One of the parent, who shared his dilemma on request on anonymity, said, “Schools were asking us to send the money via online transfers or rush to the bank, since it was open till 1 pm. But how can we leave our kids home and rush to the bank and risk catching COVID-19 infection?”
A parent quoted his disappointment in school’s management, when they asked him to pay the fee for upcoming academic session. “It felt like schools are also just busy minting money, with not even a slight heart to understand that all of us are also sitting at home with a break on our business incomes,” he said.

Be prepared for board exams, board reminds
In view of coronavirus outbreak in Indore and other parts of the state, MPBSE informed students of class 10 and class 12 that schedule for examinations would be released after lockdown.
Since, the country was locked-down, to avoid spreading of COVID-19 infection, the board examination were postponed. “Due to lockdown and the risk of COVID-19 spreading in the country, board examination for some subjects of classes 10 and 12 could be conducted as planned. Students are being informed that a fresh schedule for pending examination would be released after the lockdown,” the notice said.
The notice was issued to remind students to prepare for the examination and be patient.

In their drive to help underprivileged families, Christian volunteers forming a group are providing ration packets to them. School Education Department issued an advisory to all the school heads and officers regarding precautions to be taken against the deadly novel coronavirus to prevent the spread of infection among school children.
