Instructing schools not to pressurize parents with the
burden of paying school fee, school education department issued a notice for
all the school affiliated to Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education
(MPBSE), Central Board Secondary Education (CBSE) or Council for Indian School
Certificate Examinations (CICSE).
Be prepared for board exams, board reminds
“For all the public and private schools affiliated to MPBSE,
CBSE or CISCE, parents can pay fee for the academic session 2019-20 till April
30, 2020. No school can charge late fee on submission of the fee till April 30,
2020 for the session,” the notice said.
This notice was sent
to all the schools citing the lockdown in the country.
The country has gone into a 21-day lockdown to battle the
spread of coronavirus. Citizens have been strictly instructed to stay indoors
or face legal action.
Yet, school education department had received complaints
from parents quoting the pressure from schools to pay fee. “The insensitivity
shown by schools had left parents worried about how to pay the fees without
risking their lives, hence, it was essential for the department to send the
notice,” Manish Verma, Joint Director, school education department (Indore),
said.
One of the parent, who shared his dilemma on request on
anonymity, said, “Schools were asking us to send the money via online transfers
or rush to the bank, since it was open till 1 pm. But how can we leave our kids
home and rush to the bank and risk catching COVID-19 infection?”
A parent quoted his disappointment in school’s management,
when they asked him to pay the fee for upcoming academic session. “It felt like
schools are also just busy minting money, with not even a slight heart to understand
that all of us are also sitting at home with a break on our business incomes,”
he said.
Be prepared for board exams, board reminds
In view of coronavirus outbreak in Indore and other parts of
the state, MPBSE informed students of class 10 and class 12 that schedule for
examinations would be released after lockdown.
Since, the country was locked-down, to avoid spreading of
COVID-19 infection, the board examination were postponed. “Due to lockdown and
the risk of COVID-19 spreading in the country, board examination for some
subjects of classes 10 and 12 could be conducted as planned. Students are being
informed that a fresh schedule for pending examination would be released after
the lockdown,” the notice said.
The notice was issued to remind students to prepare for the
examination and be patient.
