Biology emphasizes the underlying principles that are common to animals and plants as well as highlighting the relationship of Biology with other areas of knowledge.
Students are expected to understand discoveries and innovations in biology to everyday life such as environment, industry, health and agriculture.
Despite understanding and studying throughout the year, students often fail to score well. This is due to the fact that most students lose their confidence and feel nervous and anxious in the examination hall.
Sometimes pressure is so overwhelming that they tend to forget, whatever they have learned. But this does not have to be case. Students can feel more confident and clear about attempting the examination with the following useful tips shared by Biology teacher Shahnawaz Ansari.
Skill-wise weightage in Biology exam
Remembering- (Knowledge based Simple recall questions, to know specific facts, terms, concepts, principles, or theories, Identify, define, or recite, information): 10%
Understanding- (Comprehension - To be familiar with meaning and to understand conceptually, interpret, compare, contrast, explain, paraphrase information): 30%
 Application (Use abstract information in concrete situation, to apply knowledge to new situations, Use given content to interpret a situation, provide an example, or solve a problem): 30%
Evaluating & Analysis - Classify, Compare, Contrast, or differentiate between different pieces of information, Organize and/or integrate unique pieces of information from a variety of sources): 17%
Creating - (Appraise, judge, and/or justifies the value or worth of a decision or outcome, or to predict outcomes based on values): 13%
Examination pattern 
Question paper consists of 4 sections of total 70 marks.
Section “A” consists of 5 questions of 1 mark each.
Section “B” consists of 7 questions of 2 marks each.
Section “C” consists of 8 questions of 3 marks each.
Section “D” consists of valve based 3 questions of 5 marks each.

Important questions for Biology exam
(i) What measures as an individual? Would you take to reduce environmental pollution?
(ii) What is gene therapy? Illustrate using the example of adenosine de aminase (ADA) deficiency?
(iii) Mention any two autosomal genetic disorders with their symptoms?
(iv) What is parturition? Which hormones are involved in induction of it?
(v) Draw a well and labelled diagram of antibody molecule.
How to attempt the exam
Stay calm before the exam.
Read all questions carefully.
Answer the easiest ones first.
Review your answers thoroughly.
Manage your time.
Skim through the entire test before you start writing the answers.

Before Pentecost, Christian community helps underprivileged families with ration

Prior to Pentecost, Christian community is following the lessons taught by Jesus Christ and helping those in need. In their drive to help underprivileged families, Christian volunteers forming a group are providing ration packets to them. Christian holiday of Pentecost, which is celebrated the 49th day (the seventh Sunday) after Easter Sunday, will be celebrated on May 31 this year. The holiday commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and other followers of Jesus Christ. School Education Department issued an advisory to all the school heads and officers regarding precautions to be taken against the deadly novel coronavirus to prevent the spread of infection among school children. The advisory was sent out at the direction of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India with a photocopy of the letter attached.
