Indore Sahodaya Model United Nations on Sept 1 & 2 for students to develop diplomatic skills

The biggest student youth conclave is set to take place in Indore on 1st and 2nd September under the name ‘Indore Sahodaya Model United Nations,’ where 10 representatives each from more than 50 schools of Indore would be contributing to resolving cardinal problems that are hindering the growth of this world. The two-day long conference will be hosted by Golden International School, Indore.
Indore Sahodaya, an initiative of CBSE launched mainly for preparing the children for academic excellence and greater social commitment, is collaborating with some young organizations aiming to develop young minds into world leaders.
“Model United Nations, also known as Model UN or MUN, is an educational simulation and/or academic activity in which students can learn about diplomacy, international relations, and the United Nations. MUN involves and teaches participants speaking, debating, and writing skills, in addition to critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership abilities,” Reena Khurana, chairperson of Sahodaya, said.
She explained that MUN is an extracurricular activity, though some schools also offer it as a class. “It is meant to engage students and allow them to develop deeper understanding into current world issues,” Reena said.
She added that students will get more exposure and connect in the conference, as most students are from Indore and can connect with each on a local level as well.
Tips for MUN delegates
Prepare a research binder: A ready-to-access research binder is a life-saver in case you get lost when different topics, acronyms, agencies, and previous solutions are mentioned
Frame your topics and speeches: Break down your topic into smaller issues. Choose the ones that matter most to your country or position. Match solutions to those issues.
Write out your first speech
Focus on one idea at a time: This makes it easier for you to make speeches and for your audience to understand you.
Learn the different stages of committee: Be aware of what stage the committee is in, whether it’s making speeches, forming alliances, or writing resolutions.
