In another update, Central Board of Secondary Education is all set to make the Board examination 2020 easier for the students. The national level exam board that has the highest number of exam takers every year has decided to make major changes in the examination pattern of the upcoming board examination.
The major change to be seen in most papers is reduction in the number of descriptive questions for both class X and XII. Changes that are to be seen in all the subject examinations include more objectivity in the exam.
Teachers and head of departments of CBSE schools have received and understood the notification. Sharing the update, head of academics of a private school Pradeep Joshi said, “CBSE board exam 2020 will have a less number of descriptive questions for class 10th. This change applies to all the class X subjects including – Hindi, English, Maths, Science, Social Science, Home Science and Sanskrit.”
As per CBSE, this has been done to give students a little more time to think and write more creative answers.
Similar changes have been made for class 12th subjects including Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Accountancy, Business Studies, Economics, Psychology, Sociology and Political Science. “Now class XII students will also have a reduced number of descriptive questions in Board Exam 2020, which will give students more time, but also a challenge to answer objective questions,” Joshi said.
Further, CBSE has announced that there will be more internal choices in board examinations in order to make the assessment student-friendly. Students will have objective type questions to make their work easier and less stressful, as justified by the board.
Another change that CBSE claims will bring cheers for every child is the introduction of practical examination or internal assessment for all the students. “The assessment will be of 20 marks and might support children by making theory examination, less of a challenge,” Joshi said.
As per CBSE, this action is being taken to promote understanding of a subject among students so they do not resort to cramming.
The board has been working on revamping the entire examination and education system. The discussions considering new and innovative systems are in consideration by Ministry of Human Resource Development.
Introduction of two levels of mathematics in class X board examination was one such initiative that is implemented from current academic session.
