Anyone who has heard Folk Rock music, definitely knows the band 'Indian Ocean'. The band, which stood apart because of their originality and courage to take that originality ahead. I got first introduced to their music, when my friend shared their song 'Kandisa'. It was the first song, which took me back to the ancient beauty of Indian music. I am very open to all styles of music, and this one reached out to my heart. I could not have imagined that I would get a chance to talk to Rahul Ram, the lead guitarist and singer of the band at present. After contacting a long line of managers, I got in touch with him, and it was worth it. Trust me, that is a rare feeling. I spoke to Ram, and everything he said urged me to rethink how I am living and making my decisions. Bagging admission but leaving pride behind, lesson from Aaqil Zakarya

To be the first can be scary, and overcoming that fear and trying to achieve something is what makes you truly successful. The following is the story of a student who bagged a scholarship from University of Richmond and got admission in Stanford University. It might not be the biggest achievement, but his efforts deserve an applause.  I think it is worth mentioning here, that his teacher, whom he gives credit for his success, has also been my teacher and guide. Her name is Nisha Ahmad. It is beautiful how life connects you back to your guru. The most wondrous part was that she remembered me as well. Out of thousands of students whom she teaches every year, she remembered me, an average student of her class. The most enchanting thing about my interaction with Aaqil Zakarya, was his down to earth attitude and honesty. He plainly accepts what he might not be great at.
